We like to point out to our customers that there are many different brands of material out there in the market, with varying quality. For instance, with Shade Sails please be aware that not all are equal, we would warn you to be aware of what you are buying. The weight of the material can start at 150-190 grams and varies up to the commercial grade of 370gm - which is the grade we use, and the grade used by sail makers. Only from this grade of fabric can you expect ultimate protection from UV damage.

  Our Sun Sail fabric is so dense that it provides up to 98% of protection from harmful UV rays, ensuring our customers receive maximum protection. This Sun Sail fabric is also much lighter than traditional materials, allowing shade systems to become an artistic feature yet remain extremely stable due to a superior stainless steel wire circumference. This attention to detail means that Watermelon Shade Sun Sails remain taught and stable even in harsh weather conditions, with no sagging and dipping, unlike sails stretched with just rope or tape.
  
  The Cancer Society of New Zealand recommends people ensure that the sunshade fabric they buy has a UV rating more than 94 per cent. The UV protection is determined by the colour of the sail, with Black sails, for instance, offering the best UV protection.
  
  316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel
  Watermelon Shade uses 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel for fixture and fittings and not inferior galvanized steel which will rust over time. We also colour powder-coat posts to your requirement and can also provide natural timber posts.

  All shade and sail structures installed are engineer designed and certified, with the material made to measure here in New Zealand by a professional sail-maker with over 50 years experience.
